Answer 1. Cats show dominance over other cats in multiple ways. For one, they fluff up their hair and arch their back's preparing to fight. They also mark their territory (urinating on plants or house hold items) If they do this inside it is usually when something new and strange enters the household (i.e. another pet) Cats will fight other cats and chase them away, they are very physical.

Answer 2. What the person above is saying isn't how they 'show' dominance , that is how they attempt to gain dominance. To show that they are dominant , they threat other cats , the 'fight-starter' is usually the less-dominant one , because if they win a fight and make the dominant one back down , that makes them more dominant , I have two male cats , so I've experienced them switch dominance over time , there isn't a perminant dominant one in my house because they're typical brothers , Bubble has the ego , he always thinks he's boss , he threats Squeak , but when it comes to fighting , they go insane , both are covered in blood , but usually Squeak wins his fame for a few days , then it goes back to Bossy Bubble haha , when I said 'covered in blood' that was an exaggeration , but before we had them fixed they would litterally fight til one ended up at the vets , that's what pushed us into taking their man-pride away even though we couldn't afford the surgery.

Answer 3. Cats also will wander into their enemy cats house to urinate in it and steal their food framing them for it so that the bad cat will be abandoned and die of starvation.

Their big mane is their main way of attracting a female. The bigger the mane is, the bigger and stronger he looks to a female. The female will chose the mate who passes the best characteristics onto her young and therefore give them the best chance of survival. They also display a willingness to mate by calling at females and following them around constantly waiting for them to come in heat so that they can copulate.

A Male Lion does not have to attract a female lioness. When a male lion takes over a pride by ousting the lead male lion of the pride, it automatically wins over the harem of lionesses that are part of the pride. He now heads the pride and has the right to mate and father cubs with the females of the pride. He has that right until another male lion ousts him from his place as the pride leader.

Wolves show dominance in little ways like raising/lowering their tail. For example, lets say there are 3 wolves, A, B, and C. Wolf A is dominant over wolf B, but wolf B is dominant over wolf C. In this example wolf A would be the alpha, and wolf C would be the omega. Wolf A would approach wolf B with its ears perked, tail high (but not too high as that shows excitement) and would come at wolf B head on. Wolf B would most likely either lay down submissively, avoid eye contact, lower its ears and tail, etc. Wolf B would basically do the same thing to wolf C, since wolf B is dominant over wolf C. Wolf A is dominant over wolves B and C. Fights can break out if a wolf isn't accepting that they aren't the dominate wolf. Growling can also show their dominance. Wolf pups' statuses change a lot over time, as they are young and have no order yet.

(Dogs show dominance the same way as wolves.)
