Recently I made a new friend from Hong Kong who thought upon her first week in Ireland, specifically Dublin, that we were a nation, on a real healthy fitness regime due to the number of men wearing tracksuits. Don't wear them unless you want to be followed around stores by security or refused entry into many establishments. I have even seen my nephew being watched because he was wearing an A&F hoodie. At 15 he was really scared of that. But it's what kids/young teens wear here and it's trendy for his age. Men here aren't big on the shorts idea either because of the weather, but if they are away somewhere sunny, they will wear them the whole time. Wearing them here makes you look as if you don't know the predictable weather and that means you won't blend in too easily. Normally men were jeans and shirts or polo t-shirts. Typically Irish men don't like to stand out and go for colour tones that are dark and its very rare to see even a pair of cream chinos on a guy. That's not to say that all Irish men dress like that. Some guys wear fabulous shirts with different colours and patterns and not predictable checks or stripes. Not your same o, same o. And then you hear words of admiration from other guys saying "gosh, I wish I could get away with wearing a shirt like that" and really mean it as a compliment. So I don't know if that answers the question. This is my first one to answer here so I might have been too long, but I wanted to be thorough. Just ask if you need to know anything else about this, because I really am an expert in this one.
It depends what your style is but we have no particular dress code.

In Ireland, people dress according to the weather. For much of the year round, people wear jeans or tracksuit bottoms and a jumper or hoodie for casual wear. In the summer, many people wear shorts or skirts and a t-shirt or vest top. In the cities, they dress more formally. Men may wear trousers and a shirt and women may wear a dress or skirt and blouse.
