People are often forced to flee their homes in order to avoid rising flood waters. The extent of this problem is caused by the severity of the tsunami. The wave itself is rarely that present on "Deep Impact." The wave is unlikely to crush people in its path or flood whole sections of the earth. Coastal cities are often evacuated to high ground. The evacuation is often perilous as the refugee camps are often unsanitary and understocked. People must wait for the waters to recede before returning to their damaged homes.
They flee, or try their best to finding shelter. Safe shelter, that is.
Other times, those with families would give their children and elderly the chance to survive.
