Take the difference between your experimental value and your known value, and divide that difference by your know value.

Say you experimentally found the force of gravity to be 8m/s2, and you know that the true/known value is 9.8 m/s2, the percent error would be

l 8 - 9.8 l = 0.1836 or 18.36%
