Obviously the above is incorrect, as many, many people are applicable as a dependent and therefore a deduction for taxes of another. The sexual preference of the people are NOT a consideration. If the person qualifies as a dependent, then they may be a deduction. The question of if you may receive a spousal deduction depends on the legality of that status in your relationship.
