Pathological liars live in a constant state of tension, forever fearful that their lies will be exposed. It doesn't take long before inconsistencies begin to appear in their act. To begin with the inconsistencies seem trivial and you might think you are mistaken but before long the person's whole life can be seen as a lie. You start by asking questions, not designed to catch the person out, but designed to reveal to the liar that you know that most of what they have told you is lies. At some point in this process the liar soon realises that his/her lies are are no longer holding water and he or she will take leave of his or her own volition.

Another way to identify inconsistencies is to compare notes with other people who have had dealings with the liar. It is often difficult to identify such people as liars are very good at covering their tracks and keeping people apart often by disparaging one such person to another.

These people are very sad individuals, capable of causing considerable destruction in relationships, and who tell lies to support lies. It's a most difficult lifestyle to sustain but it's almost as if the truth isn't good enough for them.

If the above is too subtle for you to manage, then just tell them to buzz off.

If they are telling lies about you, speak with your friends. Say that so and so is telling such and such about you, and that it is a lie. Be up front. If you take away the power of the lie, you don't have to respond directly to them at all (which will really tick them off).

There are multiple ways you can get away from people with this disorder. One way would be to know whats good for you and no matter what they tell you, for the sake of your sanity to leave on your own. If things become to be dangerous then i would call the cops and receive help immediately. Don't fall for any more of their lies, cause its hard to untangle yourself from a web of lies
