That would be more of a question for a trained therapist or doctor with that as their field of speciality. In general, our culture has witnessed a vast upswing of assigning medical, psychiatric and psychological terms to what used to just be regarded as habits, inclinations or eccentricities.
So unless there is a specific medical opinion to the contrary, it is best to just assume the person is self-absorbed.
