To find 15% of something, you take the "something" and multiply it times 0.15, which is the decimal format for a percentage in one hundredths. EXAMPLE: You want to buy something in the store that costs $25.00 but it is on sale for 15% off. How much would it cost? $25.00 times 15% OR 25 x .15 = 3.75. So the item would cost $3.75 less than the original $25.00 for a final cost of $21.25.

If you're adding a 15% tip onto a bill. The easiest way, is to start with 10% and work from there.

For example - say your restaurant bill came to 45.20 and you need to add 15 %... 10% of 45.20 is 4.52. Half that again will give you 5% which is 2.26... 4.52+2.26 is 6.78 - which is 15% of the original bill.

To summarise... to find 15% of anything - find 10%, then half it (to get 5%) and add the two together.
