You're probably thinking of Temple Grandin. Her web site is located at www.grandin.com . There have been many stories about her; Oliver Sacks wrote about her in his book An Anthropologist on Mars; NPR also did a story about her a while ago. She herself has published a book called Thinking in Pictures. She's quite a woman.
