I'm not sure what you mean by "grow" but to care for them, keep them away from direct light, try to get some humidity in the room or put the violet pot on a saucer with a layer of pebbles and water. Just make sure the roots are not sitting in water. Water only when almost dry, but not too much. Just keep it moist.
Answer
Water with lukewarm water, and avoid getting water on the leaves.

around 2-10 inches
pink and violet
They can grow from 6-15 cm tall and can be anywhere from 6-30 cm wide.
a NORMAL violet normally grows to about 00.2 millimeters
Fine in texture and light tan in color and they like to grow shallow.
Violets grow better than sunflowers
It is possible but they don't grow well in the water, this is because violets need soil for their nutrients so they will grow beautiful and strong. Violet roots needaeration that they receive from growing in African violet soil. I did try growing some in water a few times but they were spindly. It's possible there are other varieties or types that grow in water.
MacConkey's agar refers to a culture medium that is designed to selectively grow Gram-negative bacteria. It contains crystal violet dye, which inhibits certain Gram-positive bacteria.
From seed it takes about 7 to 9 months until it flowers.
