2. Put that time block into your resume in the same format as your job listings. Include an explanation of why you were unemployed.
I would do option #2 ONLY if you have a very good reason for being unemployed, such as an illness or schooling. If your reasons are more like you were lazy or were in jail, I would go for option #1 and be prepared with an answer for that question.
