You have to return to the distortion world after defeating the elite four and Cynthia (the champion), and successfully beating the game. Though Cynthia previously blocked the entrance to the turn back cave where you exited the distortion world before, she is now gone and you can enter the cave. Guess doors randomly until you find the portal to the distortion world. Looking around a bit you'll find a griseous orb. Attach this to Giratina to make it remain in origin forme outaside the distortion world.

to get giratina you need to go to the distortion world and catch it but when you go back to your world it will change it's form to altered form to keep it in it's original form you need to have giratina, beet the Pokemon league then go back to the distortion world and you will apper where you catched giratina,go down then you will see a pokeball go get it and it will give you the griseious orb now go back to your world again and give the griseious orb to giratina and it will change back to it's original form

Can you catch Giratina on Pokemon platinum if you didn't in the reverse world?
Sadly, to get Giratina you need to go to Spear Pillar and get inside the portal which leads to the reverse world. To get Giratina in the reverse world you need to just follow the paths until you start finding Cynthia over and over again in the reverse world. Once you see the three Pokemon of the lakes, (Mesprit, Azelf, and Uxie) you drop boulders into where the holes are right by all of the three lake Pokemon. Once you finish that go try to find Cynthia again. If you see her, talk to her and right by her you will se an appearing platform. You and Cynthia step on that and you go down lower nd lower until you find Cyrus. You have to battle him and defeat him. (He has Pokemon that are leveled like 40 - 47) Once you beat him you keep following the path and you will find Giratina. If you catch him or defeat him you will see a portal right where Giratina was. When you go throiugh that cave you appear outside the door of a cave. If you want to get the orb that changes Giratina's form you go into the cave and try to find the portal. When you go there try to find the portal where Giratina was caught or defeated. You will see someting lying there. Pick it up and you will get the orb. On Pokemon platinum what do you do after you catch Giratina?
I'm pretty sure Giratina is the last main legendary Pokemon that you can catch on Diamond, if you're talking about legendaries. However, if you have not yet caught Mesprit or Cresselia (these are the two that move around and keep fleeing from battle) then catch them. A handy tip for these two is to get a speedy Pokemon (or one holding Quick Claw) that knows Block or Mean Look to prevent them running from the battle. This will allow you to drain their health and then start chucking Balls at them. If you're talking about any kinds of Pokemon, then try and complete the Sinnoh Dex. This will cause lots more older Pokemon from previous series to appear, and you can try and complete the National Dex! Examples include Togepi and Beldum.
