What do you do in the rare case you are being attacked by a bear? Fight back. Predators do not attack out of anger, and they are always careful to avoid injury. Unlike what you may have heard, play dead only in the even rarer case of being attacked by an angry mother. She is acting out of instinct, she perceives you as a threat to her cubs.
For any other reason, a confrontation with a bear should be handled with a great deal of noise and threatening action. This will end the "attack" quickly with the bear leaving for safer grounds. See link below for more information.

∙ 14y agoNow a lot people would assume you just run away, but a bear can run alot faster and will catch and if it does, it can cut your head clean off with one strike, if you try to climb a tree, that may not work either as some bears climb trees and will be on you to, then your traped. Cant swim either because bears are pro at that as well, so if your confronted by a hungry bear in the wilderness your not going anywhere. The proper way to defend your self from a bear attack is by acting like your tougher than the bear, when a bear confronts you stick your chest out and tower over it and force it to back down. This is the best way if your unarmed as the bear will most likely get intimidated and run off. However if you do have a gun, dont hesitate. Remember, you gotta shotem in the head.

Actually never ever pretend to be dead, back away slowly and dont show fear, animals can smell fear. Never run and make loud noises, if it attacks then you really only have one choice. (ONLY IF IT ATTACKS YOU) stand and fight, I know I may sound crazy, but it is one of the only ways.
