Well first of all you shouldn't stay with anyone that abused/abuses you because even though you love them, they obviously don't love you back (sorry!) if they abuse you :-o
Anyway i would act sorry and make him/her feel powerful and bad by looking feeble. NEVER try to hit her/him back. Don't go seeing him/her again because that's just stupid.
