Remove the gas cap, and look for a Schrader valve on the fuel rail to release the pressure. If there is none, then just wrap the connection with a rag and expect a sudden burst of fuel when you disconnect the filter. Make sure the rag is covering the connection and Let the rag catch the small amount of fuel that will escape. Just be very careful not to get the fuel in your eyes or on your face as it will spray.
Release the fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Jack up the car using approved stands and not cinder blocks. The filter is on the frame on the driver's side just before the gas tank. It will require a special tool to release the line to filter.jd
The new body style Malibu w/2.2L 4cyl has a non-servicable, permanent filter in the fuel tank
First, can you hear it running? If the answer is yes, then replace the fuel filter. If you still believe it is defective, then have a fuel pressure test run.
Right above the oil filter.
It is on the frame at the rear and in front of the gas tank. There is an inlet and outlet fuel that will have to be taken loose first. You need to depress the schrader valve on the fuel rail to release the pressure. It should be replaced every 2 years.
Did you replace the fuel filter? If not do so. There may be air in the lines. Use starter fluid to get it started.
Its right above the oil filter. Its easier to remove the oil filter to get to it.
The fuel filter is located on the driver's side frame just forward of the gas tank. You will need to remove the fuel pressure at the fuel rail under the hood. It will require a special to to disconnect the fuel line from the filter.
First you have to release the fuel pressure at the fuel rail by depressing the schrader valve. Jack up the car and put stands under it for support. Then unscrew the fuel lines from the filter and install the new filter.
On the front of the engine above the oil filter.
First you need to release gas pressure in the high pressure gas line, disconnect the pump harness. Remove the bolts. After that remove carefully the pump from the tank, make sure that there is no dust around. Replace the filter, reinstall.
no, there is not a fuse inside the fuel pump - check to make sure you have 12 volts to fuel pump for first 3 seconds when key is on position- also check ground to fuel pump if both of these are good and you have no or little fuel pump pressure check fuel filter or replace it- if no or little fuel after replacing fuel filter then replace fuel pump also don't forget to check fuel pressure regulator (although this is a rare problem among Chevy Malibu's)
