How do you release the seat belts on a 1997 Chrysler Sebring?
There is a release solenoid that may occasionally lock up when the car is off. Turning the key to the 'on' position should free your safety belts.

for 2.5 v6 on the 1997 2.5L V6 models there is a tensioner pully that is held on w/a bolt on the front of the pulley and adjusted with a bolt on the mount that is to the lef…t of the pulley. be sure you don't have the spring loaded autotensioner because some models on the 1997 line had them. first you have to loosen the bolt holding the tensioner on. then the other bolt on the side of the pulley has to be loosened to relieve the tension on the belt. then just take the belt off and replace with a new one with it going on the right side of the alternator and the compressor pulleys the left side of of the tensioner pulley motor crankshaft pulley. when you start to tighten the belt you have to tighten the bolt that holds the pulley on till it holds it straight but not tight. then you tighten the adjuster bolt until the belt only flexes less than an inch in the area between the alternator and the crankshaft pulley. tighten the hold down bolt and start. listen for slippage when your transmission shifts when you are dogging the car out. if you hear a loud squealch when it shifts then the belt isn't tight enough. on the 2.5L v6 model there is also a v-belt for the power steering pump which requires the removal of the serpentine belt for replacement.

Answer . The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be enabled or disabled by your authorized dealer or by following these steps:. NOTE: The following steps must occu…r within the first 60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON or START position. DaimlerChrysler does not recommend deactivating the Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert).. 1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and buckle the driver's seat belt. 2. Start the engine and wait for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.. 3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.. NOTE: Watch for the Seat BeltWarning Light to turn on while unbuckling and off while re-buckling the seat belt. It may be necessary to retract the seat belt.
In a 1999 Chrysler Sebring Convertible the seat belts are stuck and will not pull out how can this be fixed?
Frozen seat belts problem . I have the same problem in a 2000 Sebring. You can't pull the seat belts out of the seat's retractor. According to the owner's manual the seat b…elt mechanism needs power on to allow the seat belts to extend. When you open the door or put the key to accessory position power is allowed. The fuse for the seat belts is listed with the flashers and the flashers work ok. I will post more after I fix it.. There is a wire connector under the seat that controls the seat belt mechanism. You have to make sure it is connected otherwise the seat belt will remain in the stuck position. I had the same problem, seat belt was stuck and I couldn't use it. I discovered the wire wasn't connected under the seat. Once I reconnected it and turned on the car I was able to pull the seat belt out.

The Chrysler Sebring drive belt can be found on the front of theengine. It is also referred to as a serpentine belt. The timingbelt can be found behind the front engine cover.…
that's sounds more like the serpentine or power steering belt. Your timing belt is internal and you wont hear it but you will know when its broken... your car wont run.
