Play dough is water soluble. scrape as much as you can off the carpet, then wet the area with a spray bottle of water. Gently work the fibers with a nylon brush, and use a shop vac to vacuum as you go. it may take a little while to get it all, just be patient so as not to damage the carpet fibers
Precautions:
Never use a stronger concentration than is recommended. Never use laundry detergent or automatic dish washing detergents because they may destroy or dye some fibers. Never use non-volatile solvents as they can cause delamination in synthetic carpets either immediately or over a period of time. Non-volatile solvents do not dissipate at room temperature & will remain in your carpet. Never pour solvents directly onto your carpet or saturate your carpet. Instead apply the solvent to a white terry towel and blot the stained area. Never use highly combustible solvents such as gasoline or paint thinners.
If playdough gets into the carpet, it is important to let the playdough harden before attempting to get it out of the carpet. Once it is dry, it can be picked at by hand, or brushed away with a stiff cleaning brush. If there is a color residue left over from the playdough, then treat the carpet with some stain remover.
Let it dry well, then rub it so it flakes off
Take off the excess playdough. Then scrape or vacuum it away.
