You can start by removing the top portion by unfastening the two metal clips on the sides. Then loosen the hose clamp at the back. The top will now lift completely off revealing the air filter. Remove the air filter. You will see a rubber spike inside the box at the back. What you can't see is that this rubber piece fits snugly over a metal bracket underneath. This is the only connection point, so no tools are required. Simply grab both sides of the box and pull upward. This could all be done without separating the top and bottom of the air box as well, but space is tight as it is.
the timing window is directly beneath the air filter housing, you must move/remove the air filter housing to see it
The filter is in a filter housing. Remove the plug in the bottom of the housing. The filter housing is then loosened using a specific wrench for that housing type.

Remove the 2 screws (10mm) on top that hold the air intake housing, Pull the air intake away from the air filter housing. You may need to loosen tubing with flathead screwdriver. It's easier to replace the filter if you remove the filter compartment so remove the screw that holds this piece in place. Pull the air filter housing out gently. You may have to work it out since space is compact. Pop the clips, replace the air filter and reverse to re-install.
