Depends on what you are wanting to do, unless its a huge tour, you'll be using LE, make sure you have plenty of processing power and only use your laptop [hopefully the case] for that purpose.
If you want to use the rig for effects on a single instrument run the gear through your interface and the output of the interface into the PA or speakers. If you have a PA and the interface has monitor outs you can via rca into the PA board in most cases.
The question is a little broad without knowing what interface and you will always need a PA of some sort.
If you want to run all the instruments into pro tools and then out to speakers it's possible but you won't be able to use many plug ins without exceeding the processing power of your PC/Mac.
I have seen a two man band run back up vox and bass through Pro Tools and play the other parts along with it. It is possible, just play around with it to make sure you have what you want before you jump into a gig and have issues.
