The more costly the clothing, the higher socio-economic class the person in likely to be in. If you cannot recognize costly clothing, you cannot make this estimate. Bear in mind, however, that this is not always true. Sometimes very wealthy people dress very simply (Warren Buffett is a well known example of this), and sometimes people stretch almost beyond their means to give the appearance of more wealth than they have. As a result, it is probably not worthwhile to try to judge a person's class by their clothing.
