Figure out a way to get its attention and to reward the dog, treats are the most common.
Make sure to tire out your husky before doing any training otherwise it just won't listen.
Reinforce constantly, but don't make it repetitive. Huskies get bored easily.
Research what an alpha dog is, make sure you understand the body language involved in the alpha/beta relationship.
Keep in mind that if you allow a behaviour once (like jumping on people as a puppy) it will always do it and it will be more difficult to make it stop.
Mix training with daily life events, like going through a door, handing them their food, walking on a leash, instead of making solid training sessions.
Above all, have a sense of humour, and patience: huskies are way too smart to be obedient.
A husky is a very unique dog to train. Patience and consistancy are the most important things. Start training your husky at an early age. This helps greatly in any dog especially the stubborn and curious husky. You must have extreme patience for a puppy as well as an adult. They are curious and get bored easily. Start off with sits for 3 seconds. Then reward and praise. This is where the consistancy comes in. Keep doing this but at the most 3 minutes. Short spurts of different yet simple exercises are helpful. It keeps the husky continuously engaged. If one exercise is repeated to long they will get bored and unwilling to listen. Keep to the main four exercises: Sit, Down, Heal and Stay. Alternate in between these. If beginning with a puppy or a new dog only work for half an hour at a time for once or twice a day. If the husky messes up do not get angry and explode on the dog. Go down to their level grab their muzzle and look angrily at their eyes(this is if you are comfortable enough with your dog as he is with you)and tell them no that was not a good thing to do and say this in a firm tone. Then continue on with your exercises. Dogs want leaders in a dog pack to be in control. If you show signs of anger and furry and rage off on the dog they will respect you less as a leader. It is essential that you realize the difference when you make a mistake and when your dog makes a mistake. You will do more harm then good punishing your dog for a mistake you did. It is helpful to record yourself or to start off in a Dog Training class to recognize the difference. Remember patience and consistancy are key that you keep with them. Do not start this habit for only 2 days then go back to the original way of training. You will not expect the results you desire.
You could exercise a Siberian husky by taking him/her with you while you are out riding a bike for a few km a day by holding the leash in your hand while you are out riding your bike,or you can install a kind of bar at the front of the bike to connect the Siberian husky's leash to it as you are riding.
Owner of a 3 quarters pure Siberian husky and 1 quarter pure grey wolf bi-eyed male and a large big-headed,short muzzled purebreed male rottweiler.
I own a Siberian husky and you can train a Siberian husky by using a treat by holding it above his head without making him touch it, which will cause him/she to sit in a sitting position. Just keep on doing this and everytime he or she sits, praise him/her and say sit until she gets it.
First off whoever said violence would solve your problem with biting doesn't understand why the dog is biting in the first place. When your child is bad you don't kick them and expect them not to do it again. A dog is the same. First off you have to understand why your husky is biting. I have a husky and I too deal with this problem often. Most of the time my husky lightly nibbles or places her mouth around my arm but doesn't actually bite down. This signifies she wants to play but I immediately withdraw from her to indicate that I am not willing to play with her since she is initiating play by this method. When she initiates play by putting her nose to my hand then I will play with her. If she gets too aggressive and begins to really bite and hurt I immodestly stop what I am doing with her and turn to ignore her. Only when she sits still and allows me to pet her without biting do I continue to play. Sometimes she bites or nibbles without having been roused up by playing. I immediately say no in a firm and commanding voice. This may need repeating several times but she Understands eventually. It is in a dogs nature to want to bite but the dog must understand that when interacting with humans, it is not polite to bite. A dog must be trained to understand this in their own way ( you can't tell a dog in language that he or she is acting in naughty). In short NEVER physically punish your dog. They may retaliate and think they are being attacked and will defend themselves like any anime or human would do.
Umm pretty much like any other dog... Walks playing... Plain old letting it run in a fenced in area... If u want him/her to lose wait slowly put him on weight control food. Little by little.
Train it.
Both the husky and the malamute have high energy levels with the husky usually being a bit more active. They both need plenty of exercise.
You can walk your Husky every day if you want to. Huskies typically have a very high energy level and need a lot of exercise.
A Siberian Husky should get at least one hour of HARD running every day. A tired dog is a calm and happy dog, that wont rip up your house and yard, which Huskies have a habit of doing when they aren't given enough exercise or mental stimulation. A Husky will be a great dog for you if you like distance running, cycling, or cross-country skiing. If that's not your style, your Husky will be restless, and you won't meet your dog's exercise requirements. It's never a good idea to get an active dog, hoping to get active oneself. Best to find a dog that suits your activity level.
husky. huskies is plural, and husky is right
husky
Huskies are challenging to train and exercise which is very rewarding to put in the effort and see good results. The husky is generally mischievous and adventurous which make them great fun to play and explore with and the way huskies communicate (woo) is very cute.
Yukon Fitness Husky Hip and Leg Sled Exercise Machine comes with a sufficient amount of weights.
As long as you have time for! Huskies typically have a very high energy level and need a lot of exercise. If you live a cool part of the world you might consider scootering with your husky. This allows your dog to get much more exercise than regular walking which doesn't seem to tire a husky much at all.
Huskies are born to run, they need plenty of attention and exercise. If you keep a husky in the house for too long and by himself then he will get DESTRUCTIVE! ex; eating walls, carpet and furniture. Huskies are not the best house pets but if your looking for one i suggest a cat.
