You need quite a lot of practice.
Try and walk with them at least once a day. Start off with "shorter" heeled ones, then when you get comfortable with them move onto high heeled ones. You'll get used to it.
Make sure you have good posture while walking (don't bend your back, stand straight). Look and see how people walk in them (make sure they don't set a bad example..) Good balance is also important.
