John the Baptist did not write a Gospel. The apostle John, writer of the gospel of John, began his gospel with these words:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
John the Baptist was the son of Elizabeth and Zacharias. They were both very old, and Elizabeth was barren. However Elizabeth became pregnant after a divine revelation to Zacharias. Zacharias did not believe that she would become pregnant and was not allowed to speak until the birth of John. John is Jesus' cousin and it can be inferred that much of his early life would have been spent near Jesus. Aside from his birth no information is given about John's early life. However, judging by the strong faith of his parents it can be assumed that he was raised like many other Jewish children. He spent his early adult life in the wilderness, and the next mention of him after his birth is found in Luke Chapter 3 where his is found teaching about Jesus. He then begins to Baptize people, and baptizes Jesus himself.
Elizabeth was the mother of John the Baptist and is mentioned in the book of John near the beginning of the book
He was predestined by God since the beginning of time to be a prophet
