Pretty much the same way it has always affected life. A persons religion or theology affects their decisions and choices.
Even a man who claims no belief in God has his own theology. In this case he is his own god making his own choices, while others look to a certain god for wisdom and guidance. For some reason, all mankind is born with an inner desire to seek God. Some find Him, some find their own god, and others find that they are enough in life for themselves.
But only one of these options offers soul security.
