The energy they use is the energy coming to the Earth form the Sun as sunlight. Water and carbon dioxide react with the sun's energy in the presence of chlorophyll, to make glucose and oxygen. The Sun's light is the source of energy. This energy is stored first in ATP and later between bonds of glucose.
