According to The Bible, Jesus was sent to the Earth by God himself to be sacrificed for the sins of man. Before Jesus came about, the only way to ask God for forgiveness was to make a live sacrifice on an altar (usually a lamb or a goat). The sacrifice made must have been of innocent blood, so animals were a prime target as they could theoretically do no wrong. The blood of Jesus took the spilling of innocent blood and deemed it unnecessary as his blood was spilt for the cleansing of the sins of the entire human race for eternity. Christian beliefs say that as long as you acknowledge that Jesus had died for you specifically and you petition God for forgiveness, you are forgiven and may enter the gates of Heaven.

Jesus is not LIKE a sacrificial lamb He IS the 'lamb of God.' - John 1:29.

John 1:29 The next day, John saw Jesus coming to him; and he saith: Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who takes away the sin of the world.

The lamb was a sacrificial animal among the Jews. God had taught His chosen people to slay a lamb and to sprinkle its blood as a sacrifice. The lamb was killed as a substitute and its blood shed so that sins might be forgiven. Jesus died as a sacrifice for sin of all mankind and "whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life".

Per the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, 1986, "Propitiation", this term means "the removal of wrath by the offering of a gift." It refers to an action or object used to make peace or repair a breach between two parties-in this case, describing Jesus Christ's sacrifice as the atonement for our sins against God.

Can antivenim be made using lamb's blood and snake venom?

It seems interesting that the lamb is symbolic symbol of Jesus Christ. In the old testament a sacrifice involved an unblemished lamb and its blood was shed to cleanse the sin. In the new testament, Jesus Christ is the sacrificial lamb that took away the sins of the world when he was crucified at Calvary. The snake represents the devil. The venom is the sin he causes us to commit. When its venom is mixed with the lamb, then the sin is cleansed and now the lamb's blood has washed away the sin.

Why do you associate Jesus Christ with a lamb or sheep?

What does Jesus fulfill in the promise of god will provide a lamb for the sacrifice?

Because of Jesus' sacrificial role, John the Baptizer identified Jesus as "the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. In speaking of Jesus as a Lamb, John may have had in mind the words of Isaiah: "He was being brought just like a lamb to the slaughtering." (Isaiah 53:7) "He poured out his soul to the very death," prophesied Isaiah. (Isaiah 53:12)

Is the death of Jesus enough for the forgiveness of sin or his blood must be spill out?

In the old testament the atonement for sin was made by spilling the blood of a lamb. The passover, which is also an illustration of salvation through Jesus Christ, involved blood. Jesus became God in the flesh, the sinless unblemished Lamb who was slain and paid the penalty for all who believe and trust in His shed blood for the forgiveness of sin.

Who represents the Paschal Lamb in Catholicism?

To be more precise, according to Scripture Jesus is the "Lamb of God". "The next day he (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, 'After me comes a man who ranks before me, for he was before me.' " (John Ch 1)Jesus Christ, often called "the Lamb of God" is directly associated with the Paschal Lamb of the Old Testament Pasch. It is more proper to say that the lamb represents Him and not the other way around, for the lamb typified Our Lord and the sacrifice he was to undergo. The title "Lamb of God" is not merely a metaphor, Our Lord really was a sacrificial victim and His death ended the Old Testament sacrifices; His own death permanently satisfied the debt of sin for which the lamb was annually offered. Even the process by which the lamb was prepared was reproduced in the death of Jesus Christ. The lamb had to be without blemish, was bound, brought to the temple, tied to a pillar, killed and drained of blood, was roasted on a spit in the shape of a cross with the forearms outstretched and it was consumed without a bone being broken. For an in-depth look into such details, St. Justin Martyr's works are highly recommended.

Passover and eucharist?

The Old Testament Foreshadows the New Testament. The Passover foreshadows the Eucharist in the following ways. During Passover the Jewish people were commanded by God to slaughter an unblemished, male, lamb. This lamb's blood, when smeared over the doorway of a house, protected that family from death. For the Eucharist Jesus is the sacrificial lamb, unblemished with sin. In order for the Gates of Heaven to be re-opened to us, we needed eternal satisfaction for our sin (Adam and Eve's sin). Because Christ is God, and He died for us, He provided that eternal satisfaction. In the Eucharist we receive that eternal sacrifice in the Eucharist in a non- bloody manner.

Why did Peter write to his people about Jesus as a lamb without blemish or defect?

Peter is symbolically associating Christ to a lamb who is born white, with no blemishes at all. It is free from all discolorations (Sin) and as pure and clean as the driven snow.

How is Jesus a gift from god?

After the first man and women broke their relationship with God, by disobeying God, it has been God's way for a person to sacrifice an animal - often a lamb - to maintain their relationship with God. When God chose the nation of Israel to be His representative on earth God gave them a sacrificial system to atone for people's sin. However Jesus came to earth lived and died as the "lamb of God". That is, Jesus was a sacrifice for sin and people who believe in Him will not have to face the consequences of their sin. In this way Jesus was a gift from God. People no longer have to sacrifice animals to restore their relationship with God when they sin. Jesus' death is accepted by God as a sacrifice for all sin.
