A cello is the largest, violins and violas are both relatively the same size but a full size cello is about 48 inches long.
A cello looks like a large violin. It is usually a deep brown or red, but also can be a light orange. The bow of a cello is a long narrow stick of wood, which is fastened to the the horse hairs which you move across the cello's strings to make a sound. The cello has a long neck and is played with you knees bent so they are visible on either side of the cello. Cellos make amazingly beautiful sounds, and are quiet beautiful them selfs! =)
In the violin family, the next in pitch above the cello is the viola. The cello is the bass of the violin family. The violin itself is the soprano, and the alto is the viola. There have been tenors made of this family from time to time, but they are not in any way standard instruments and are usually called by the name tenor violin.

there are four strings on a cello
The sound is produced by the strings vibrating. You can play a cello by plucking the strings (like a guitar) or by playing with a bow (like a violin).

The Cello's dimensions vary with size of cello compared to the person.
Yes, generally if you practice in private, but show your abilities only in performance, after having mastered a piece of music. As long as you don't play both in solo in one performance, because this can be seen as pretentious. <><><> Also, make sure when you perform on the cello you are wearing a long skirt or pants.
