Oxycodone is one of the strongest known pain medications. If you have intractable pain that oxycodone isn't relieving, you need to discuss this with your physician, ASAP.
OxyContin, Purdue Pharma's controlled-release form of the painkiller oxycodone, usually begins entering the bloodsteam within 15 minutes of ingestion and usually reaches "first sign of relief" level within 30-45 minutes. Peak concentration and effectiveness is reached in approximately 2 hours, and the dose contionues to be effective for 12 hours.(OxyContin is designed for use in a long-term program of relief for chronic pain under medical supervision, and should not be used as an occasional medication.)
Yes; however, you will nedd to take less of each drug. Both are prescribed for pain relief and work similar on the opiate receptors of the brain. Darvocet is a schedule IV narcotic and much milder than Oxycontin. Oxycontin is a schedule II narcotic and much stronger than darvocet. It really would not make too much sense to take both together because the Oxycontin will over power the effects of darvocet. Be very careful when combining different narcotic pain relievers.
Many patients feel immediate relief from pain, but, in about 30% of patients, maximal relief takes six weeks
Some kind of natural therapies that one can take for pain relief is the Naturopathic medicine or the Osteopathy therapy. They will help the patient to relax and relief their stress and pain.
