The only true James Bond film to have been remade is Thunderball (1964), which was released in 1983 as Never Say Never Again. As Never Say Never Again was not an Eon production, it is not considered to be part of the James Bond canon. Casino Royale has been adapted to film three times, the first of which was for television and modified extensively with an American Bond named Jimmy. The second adaptation was a parody starring David Niven. 2006 marked the first time Casino Royale was made by Eon, starring Daniel Craig.
Never Say Never is a remake of Thunderball. Sean Connery said he would never do another James Bond movie, but was talked into remaking his favorite.
