Two -- one competitive and one honorary. Sir Alec Guinness won the 1957 Best Actor award for his performance in "The Bridge on the River Kwai." On April 14, 1980, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presented him with an honorary Oscar "for advancing the art of screen acting through a host of memorable and distinguished performances." He died on August 5, 2000.
