50,000

a single hive will usually contain:

1 queen

~60,000 larvas (upto 2000 hatches a day)

upto 100,000 workers.

upto 2000 drones.

all depends on the hive location (amount of pollen -> nectar produced)

and the time of year (just enough to survive the winter, and in abundance in spring).

1,000-5,000. Nobody really knows that thousands of bees live in a single hive. Think of them as brave warriors fighting for the survival of their country. It makes me want to help them out! SERIOUSLY!

In the average hive there is one queen, between 20,000 and 60,000 workers depending on the time of year, and up to about two or three hundred drones.

Honey bees normally live in colonies ranging from 20,000 to 60,000 bees. If a colony were to get smaller than around 10,000 it would probably be too small to survive the winter. Colonies of over 100,000 are unusual, and by this stage there would normally be bees leaving the colony in swarms to form new colonies elsewhere.

Do bees and wasps fight?

In the open bees and wasps will tend to ignore each other, but if a wasp tries to enter a bee hive and does not immediately back out, the guard bees will probably sting it to death. A concerted attack on a bee hive by a large number of wasps in order to get to the honey stores may succeed and many bees and wasps will die in the resulting fight.
