It would also depend on whether you are writing a novella or a novel. Novella chapters are usually shorter than novels.
There is no right or wrong when it comes to lengths in a book - only suggestions and opinions.
From an author's perspective I would say "end a chapter whenever it feels right". For example, during a climax moment. All the great authors have different word counts in each chapter, what matters is timing, not word count.

I think that you should write approximately 3500-5000 words or more if you wish but personally your first chapter is the first impression a reader gets of you and you can stylize it to be anyway you want.
