Not Days, Minutes

Within minutes after being infected, the HIV virus can be transmitted from the infected person to someone else.

Answer #2

I just read from aids.org (i think that's what the website is called) that it is within the last 2-3months of infection that the chances of a person infecting a partner are highest, since according to what I read, that period is when the viral load is highest.

I, personally, am not sure.

The cause was not discovered. The relationship to malaria and the vector (mosquito) was a simple matter of eliminating the options to transmit the virus. The cause is simply an infected carrier being bitten by a mosquito which is capable of being the vector to another human. bird, dog, etc.
