This is a question that is very difficult to answer. Part of being president in the modern world is spending time away from the White House. Presidents attend conferences, they give speeches, they hold political rallies in various cities, they represent US interests in talks with other countries. Mr. Obama is no exception. Sometimes, he will be at the White House holding meetings with cabinet members or discussing policies with his advisers, or greeting important visitors from other countries. But often, he has to be elsewhere. It is rare for Mr. Obama, or most other presidents, to be at the White House and nowhere else. Further, the president may begin his day in Washington and then travel elsewhere later that day.

If I were to make an educated guess, based on looking at his schedule, I would say he is in Washington about 75% of the time. But to help you see what the president does, I enclose a link to his daily schedule. You will notice that some days, he is in Washington only, while on other days, he is there for part of the day, and sometimes, he leaves DC entirely to go to other cities. It should also be noted that on some days, he has no public meetings and sets aside time to spend with his wife and daughters.
