A typical dentist works from 7am-6pm with lunch breaks, so in 7 days (no lunch) is 77 hours. but with lunch, 70 hours. weekends off 55 hours, with lunch 50. so it depends on your practice, where you work, and when you work

Depending on the individual dentist, some work very few hours, such as 20-30 a week, while others work 40-50 hours a week. Dentistry allows dentists to choose their own schedule in most cases. It's up to the dentist and how many patients he or she wants to see.

How many hours does a dentists work in a week?

A dentists income is based off of how many patients he/she sees in a day. They can work 1 hour a week and not make squat, they can work 40 hours a week and make good - excellent money, depending on the treatment, how much you charge, what materials you use, what kind of staff you hire. If you decide to not refer patients to specialists and learn to do endodontics and oral surgery with continued studies and education, you can earn even more. General dentists do pretty well even with refering patients out to specialist, though.

Where are orthodontics employed physically?

Work environment. Most dentists are solo practitioners, meaning that they own their own businesses and work alone or with a small staff. Some dentists have partners, and a few work for other dentists as associate dentists. Most dentists work 4 or 5 days a week. Some work evenings and weekends to meet their patients' needs. The number of hours worked varies greatly among dentists. Most full-time dentists work between 35 and 40 hours a week. However, others, especially those who are trying to establish a new practice, work more. Also, experienced dentists often work fewer hours. It is common for dentists to continue in part-time practice well beyond the usual retirement age.Source: U.S. Department of Labor
