How many star coins are there in super Mario 3D land?

You can't unless if it is Super 64 Mario DS. You have to fight the secret boss and get the key and unlock Luigi in the room on top of the water world.

If you mean Super Mario 63 as in the flash game, it takes between 16 and 48. I'm not really sure because i already unlocked Luigi and it doesn't say how many. My guess would be about 25. To find out, go to the room with the guy that is watching over the shine sprites and go to the right down the stairs. Go past the level creator to the doors and try to go in the second door. It will tell you how many you need. If you can't go down the stairs, i think you need to get 5 star coins before you can do that.

Its mario's brother luigi. You can play him instead of mario if you get 32 star coins.
