How many virgins does the Koran say you get?

The Koran does not say anything about 72 virgins. Mohammed used to tell his Arab soldiers on a jihad that if they die fighting they will receive 72 in a physical heaven next to Allah. Extremists still believe this.

No one knows. Your second life is quite different than first life. You will see, feel, touch, smell, enjoy what you never imagined in the first life. All what is mentioned is just for illustration and not physically true.

There is no real solid Islamic basis for these so called 'Virgins' in the Islamic Paradise so the answer should really be none, some may disagree but that's up to them. They aren't mentioned explicitly in the Qur'an and the chain of Hadiths surrounding the topic are considered weak.

The literal descriptions of paradise according to Islamic sources include rivers of milk, wine & honey, castles of gold & silver, wearing silk & gold for men, pretty young male servants like scattered pearls, luscious gardens of fruits & female concubines for men.

These are things that would have certainly appealed to the senses of the desert dwellers of 7th century Arabia. They would have faced a lot of hardships, lack of water, food and other material resources. In a lot of ancient societies, young handsome males were seen as the ideal servants whereas such females were seen as ideal sexual concubines, which may be the reasoning behind these kinds of descriptions.

Therefore all descriptions of paradise given in the Qur'an & Hadith should be taken metaphorically, so I wouldn't rate anyone's chances of getting virgins when they pass away. The descriptions may seem materialistic and even indulgent but it was a way of telling people who faced great hardships and a lot of shortages that their struggles were temporal & if they led a good life, such things will be no more in the world to come.

Islamic paradise is seen as a place where your soul will rest in contentment eternally. It will be a place of joy & delight but perhaps not exactly as we understand these terms in this world. You will feel as if you have all you desire and all your wished fulfilled, such will be the contentment. Perhaps through such description was the best way to convey this point to the Arabs of that time. According to belief, the reality of Islamic Paradise is that no person can imagine or comprehend it.
