MiG-29 cost about $11 million.
According to wikipedia, a russian Mig 29 has a top speed of Mach 2.25 (2.25 times faster than the speed of sound). Whereas an american f 16 has a top speed of Mach 2+. So apparently they both r the same but statistically Mig 29 is faster.
The word MIG stands for Mikoyan Gurivech, an aerospace and defense aircraft company and was founded by Artem Mikoyanand Mikhail Gurevich, two Russians, as "Mikoyan and Gurevich." And, the company's headquarters are in Moscow, Russia's capital. so yes the MIG-29 is definitely a Russian airplane.
Yes MIG 29 is far superior to F16. MIG 29 engine can be maneuvered according to our requirement.
The MiG-29 is a jet fighter aircraft designed in the Soviet Union.
The most powerful combat aircraft in the World is the United States F-22 Raptor, Russian Mig-29, the republic of China and Taiwan Mig-35.
Pakistan has more equipped and latest fighter planes as compared to Mig-29. F-16 5th generation and JF-17 are more capable fighter planes as compared to Mig-29.
It will be unwise to compare these two aircrafts. But if said so, jf-17 is single engine aircraft therefore, the payload it will take will be much less. The other thing is that its thrust/weight ratio will directly depend upon the engine it carries. Currently it is said that the engine of JF-17 will be RD-93 which is used as one of the two engines in Mig-29 so in principle JF-17 should have atleast half the weight of MiG-29. JF-17 will be primarily used as air superiority aircraft on the other hand MiG-29 is a multi-role aircraft. The main advantages JF-17 will have over MiG-29 is the low maintenance cost and new airframe with composite materials.
According to Wikipedia, a Mig-29 (the most commonly used mig currently) is "a 4th generation jet fighter aircraft designed for the air superiority role in the Soviet Union. Developed in the 1970s by the Mikoyan design bureau, it entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1983, and remains in use by the Russian Air Force as well as in many other nations. NATO's reporting name for the MiG-29 is "Fulcrum", which was unofficially used by Soviet pilots in service.[1] It was developed to counter new American fighters such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the F/A-18 Hornet" (Wikipedia - Mikoyan MiG-29). "Mig" is a general name of the Russian fighter aircraft. It is a shortened name for the aircraft made by the Mikoyan company. However over the years, "Mig" would refer to the current aircraft that was used by the Russians. So a pilot in the Viet Nam War might say he shot down a Mig which would refer to a Mig 21 jet. Sources Cited "Mikoyan MiG-35." 14 Jun 2008 . The name "MiG" stems from Mikoyan Gurivich, the aircraft designers.
Both Mig-29 and Su-27 are Russian Fighter jets. They were developed in early 1970's by Mikoyan (Mig) and Sukhoi (Su) commissioned by the then Soviet Union to come up with modern jets of air superiority and advanced capabilities to compete with the F-14, F-16 and F/A-18 of the United States. Both Mig-29 and Su-27 have the same basic design (they both resemble the F/A-18) and the reason behind it is that at the time, the aircraft design students who later worked for Mikoyan and came up with the Mig-29 design were taught by a professor who worked for Sukhoi. Although Mig-29 and Su-27 might look similar at first glance, the Su-27 is a much larger air craft and much more costly as well. For more info, please use google!
"Mig" is a term that refers to a Russian fighter and more specifically a jet-fighter made by the company Mikoyan-Gurevich. This term came into use by the US Air Force during Viet Nam War when referring to the Mig 17 or Mig 19 or Mig 21 fighter jets. So the Mig was a jet fighter used to attack bombers or other fighters. Does that answer your Question? Great answer I just have a little more that might help The exact purpose of a MiG would have to be determined by the model of MiG itself. Most of the Mig's like the 15,17,19,21,23 where strictly fighter's the 25,31 are interceptors for shooting down bombers not dog fights, and the 27 is a ground attack striker Last but not least is the 29 This is basically the Russian version of a f 15 it can be used in diffrent capacities from fighter to strike as well as intercepter
Pakistan relies mainly on 4 different kinds of fighter planes. F-16, JF-17 Thunder, Mirage III and F-7P are the names of these fighter planes. Mig-29 is less advanced as compared to JF-7 as Mig-29 is equipped with old technology which was engineered by Russia in 1973.
The F18 can achieve Mach 1.8 or so at 40,000 feet. The MiG-29 can go faster, or around Mach 2.25 at altitude. The MiG-28 was never built.
