Filing and payment are 2 different things. You must pay your estimated tax, through withholding or filing a 1040-ES with payment (quarterly), during the year, or face penalties and interest when you do file/pay. Returns are due by April 15. Any remaining payment is due then too. However, as long as you're paid in, or make that 4/15 payment, getting a 6 month extension of time to complete the forms is automatic and easy.
There is no age limit for filing income taxes in the United States. The only time you do not have to file tax returns is if your income falls below the minimum amount requiring you to do so.
It's not time, it's amount. Over 3k and you must file.
April 15 unless you file a an extension which will extend the time to file till Oct 15.
Your tax obligation depends on your income and other wages. In some cases, yes.
As an individual taxpayer filing one of the federal 1040 income tax returns when you do NOT have any federal income tax liability you generally will NOT be assessed any of the penalties for failing to file your income tax return by the DUE date.

Presuming you live in a State with an income tax and have the qualifying income, of course you do.Now, common sense, if you don't have the requirement to file, because the government says you don't have to --- what do you think - they do that because it's good for you? Or them?THE ONLY TIME YOU REALLY WANT TO FILE, IS WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE TO!Thats when it can only do you good.
It is extremely important to file your taxes ON TIME if you owe money whether or not you can pay. The penalty for failure to file on time is TEN TIMES as much as the penalty you will pay if you file but don't pay. People who can't pay their taxes often don't file. That is the most foolish mistake you can make and it will cost you big bucks. File and send as much as you can. Try to make other arrangements to pay the balance, but even if you can't make arrangements or pay anything, file on time.
Sure. The fact that you were incarcerated does not exempt you from filing income taxes and paying tax on your income. It does prevent you from claiming many of the tax credits such as Earned Income Credit, Child Tax Credit as you cannot claim that you supported your children or that they lived with you during this time.
The answer is NO. When you are employed you have federal taxes taken from your pay or if you are self employed you are to pay Federal taxes on your gross income twice a year. During tax time if you were employed or self employed and have earned income (which is what you made all year) you file a federal income tax. The purpose to file taxes is to see if you will end up getting taxes back from what you have paid in all year or if you will end up paying because you still owe. Depending on the income bracket you fall under, if you have dependants to claim, or if you have any deductions will calculated to see what your getting back.
Online income tax filing can help you save time and money. Going to an income tax preparer can cost someone $200 to $400 or more. However, many people can file their taxes online for free. Some services, like H&R Block and Turbo Tax will allow some individuals to file their taxes for free online, like those who are not self employed, who do not own a home and who don't have any investments or income from rental property. Other online income tax filing services, like Tax Act, will allow everyone to file for free. You also save time because you can file right from home.
There is no exemption from income taxes because of age. Being claimed as a dependent does not make your child exempt from taxes. Regardless of age or dependent status, if your child has sufficient income she must file her own tax return. To claim "exempt" on her W-4 at work, BOTH of the following statements must be true:1) She owed no taxes last year. All taxes that were withheld (if any) were refunded.2) She reasonably expects to owe no taxes this year.
