The DC Government does not mandate a minimum age to be a Babysitter. The only regulations that cover Babysitting are minimum wage regulations. Each family needs to make their own decision on if a person is capable of doing the job effectively.
The Red Cross in the National Capital Area hosts a class for Babysitters and their age recommendations is 11-18 years of age.
