Primarily we listened to the radio, but we only had AM, unless you were lucky enough to have an FM set, and could pick up the new underground stations.
Most of us had these little portable AM transistor radios that you could get a single earplug for to listen to without bothering anybody else.
We also had phonograph, or record players that we played 33 1/3 LP albums and 45 RPM records (singles) on. Some of us had these portable record players in our bedrooms. The sound wasn't the best, but at least we could listen to "our music" without having to argue with our parents, except when we played it a little too loud.
Then there was television. Where we got to see Elvis, The Beatles and The Supremes on the Ed Sullivan show. Then there was American Bandstand with Dick Clark, and Hootenanny, Hullabaloo and Shindig.
I Would Think that The French would Listen to Whatever they Wanted too....Lolzz!
Most people would say they don't want to listen to rap at all.
Peasants would listen to music in church and at festivals.
Well if I didn't listen to music anymore, I'd go INSANE cause like, MUSIC = LIFE :OWhile music is something wonderful to many people , not listening to it would only allow more time to listen to the rest of the environment. And you would be more aware of your surroundings.
I would assume they listen because of the same reason other people do. They think it sounds good and enjoy it.

Yes. People only cared about love, music and peace. What a life it would have been!
