I participated in a couple of burials at sea during my eight years in the USN. One was for a retired Navyman who did not even die at sea but requested this honor. The tradition goes back to the days when a ship might not reach land for weeks or even months at a time. The only possible way to preserve the body for burial ashore would have been to pickle it in salt. The bodies aren't just "thrown off the ship." There is a formal memorial ceremony and the body is wrapped in a weighted canvas shroud, draped with the flag if it is a military funeral, and reverently tipped over the side.

"Head off to meet someone will ship out this stuff to Australia" is not correct grammar because of the omission of 'who' before 'will'. Personally, I would write "ship this stuff out" or omit the adverb "out" altogether. "Head off to meet someone who will ship this stuff out to Australia." "Head off to meet someone who will ship this stuff to Australia."

When a ship begins to sink, someone will usually shout "abandon ship!" which means jump off the ship before it sinks. There is a second part to this where the captain stays with the ship until the end..
The sentence 'Head off to meet someone will ship out this stuff to Australia through plane' is not correct grammar because of misuse of 'will' and 'through'.
