Better wages, the minimum wage was raised to over $10 an hour. Also it gave the workers the right to perform mutiny and kill their bosses if they felt that they were being treated unfairly.
In the summer of 1892, an industrial lockout and strike known as The Homestead Strike resulted in a battle between individuals on strike and private security agents. In all, 12 people were killed and 23 were wounded.

Workers at the Carnegie Steel Company went on strike to protest low wages, long hours, dangerous working conditions, and the company's refusal to recognize their union, the Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers. The strike eventually culminated in the violent Homestead Strike of 1892.
