If you mean 'breadcrumb trail', it applies to websites that use them, regardless of windows version. It looks like this:

Food | Fruit | Banana

Assuming you are on a website about food, lookig at a page about a banana, you'll see something like this usually near the top of the page (but not always, it depends on how the web page was written). It's called a bradcrumb trail because it allows you to follow the crumbs backwards to where you were previously more easily than using the front and back buttons. it might also show the normal links through categories even if this was the first page you opened. For instance, clicking on the word 'fruit' in the analogy above should work as a hyperlink, taking you to a page about fruit, of which banana is a sub-category. Clicking on Food would take you to a page about food, of which 'fruit' is a sub-category.

The breadcrumb trail for a particular page is normally programmed - there could be several ways to get to the same page in a web-site's hierarchy if the web site is particularly large and complex, but only one will be shown, and it is that which is considered most logical for that page - it may not be click route you actually took on the web site to get to that page.
