In Book II of the Aeneid the Trojans notice that the Greek ships have gone from the beach in front of Troy. In fact the Greeks have only moved their navy around the headland to Tenedos - but the Trojans don't know this. (Vergil makes it clear that the Trojans are ready to believe that the Greeks are gone, because that is what they want to believe).

The Trojans leave the city and walk around the abandoned Greek camp. They find the Wooden Horse, and they capture Sinon - a Greek warrior who claims to have deserted the Greek army.

Sinon confirms that the Greeks have abandoned the siege - but he is a carefully planted spy. (Sinon will later be the one who opens the horse once it is within Troy's walls).

How did the Trojan horse help greek defeat the Trojan?

the Greeks hid in the hollowed out wooden horse, and sailed their ships away, making the Trojans believe they had left. The trojans celebrated and took the horse left behind as a sign of surrender by the Greeks. They then brought the horse inside to serve as a statue and reminder of the Greek surrender. At night, the men inside the horse, escaped, killed the guards at the wall, opened the city gates and signalled the hiding Greek forces to attack. With the heavily fortified wall gates now open, the Greeks easily defeated the Trojans.

What did the Trojans have when the Greeks sailed from Troy?

Peace and quiet. Not quite. The city was razed, so they didn't have that, and those not killed were taken home as slaves in the ships, or sold into slavery locally.Maybe you meant 'sailed for Troy'. Remember, people will answer the question you ask, not the one you have only in your mind.Put as much care into your question as you expect others to do when answering you.

How did the Greeks get inside troy?

According to Homerus' book The Iliad, by constructing a large wooden horse and hiding a goup of soldiers inside it. Then they sailed away, seemingly conceding the failure of their siege. The Trojans then dragged the horse inside Troy as a victory trophy. At night, the Greek soldiers crept out of the horse and opened the gate for their countrymen, who had sailed back under cover of the darkness.

How did the greeks finally get into troy?

The main fact was that Troy, was invaded by a Trojan Horse, a big giant wooden horse that held the Myrmidin and Achilles, thus letting in the Greeks who slaughtered the Trokans in open-combat.Another theory is that Troy had an earthquake, causing the walls to collapse which let in thousands of Greeks, and Troy's destruction.I hope this answers better than:"with th Trojan horse" the fool who wrote that.According to legend, a group got in in the belly of a giant wooden horse, and then opened the gates to those waiting outside.

How is theTrojan horse a symbol of the Trojan war?

The Trojan War began when the goddess of chaos wrote "To the fairest" on her golden apple and threw it an equal distance from Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. Each claimed the apple because they thought they were the fairest, and they decided to have Paris, a Trojan prince, determine who the fairest was. They all bribed him to convince him to pick themselves, and he chose Aphrodite, who offered him the love of the most beautiful woman in the world, Helen of Troy. She was married to King Minelaus, who was Greek. She and Paris ran off together and that started the Trojan War (the phrase 'the face that launched a thousand ships' refers to Helen's beauty and this war). The Trojan War lasts for several years, and eventually the Greeks are surrounding Troy, but they can't get through the defensive walls. The Greeks left a giant wooden horse right outside of Troy and they sailed all of their ships just a few miles away, far enough away to be out of sight. They wanted the Trojans to think that they went home and they left the wooden horse as an offering to Poseidon, the god of the ocean, for a safe trip home. The Trojans saw the horse, and took it into the city, thinking they could burn it later and celebrate their victory over the Greeks. When night came, the soldiers in the horse snuck out and opened the gates of Troy. The Greeks stormed through Troy, killed most of the Trojans, and burned everything in Troy. Very few Trojans escaped, and the Greeks won the Trojan War. Today, a Trojan horse signifies a gift from an enemy that will only bring you harm, like the computer virus, which pretends to be a harmless file so you will download it, but then it attacks your computer.

What is the story of Troy?

the story of the fall of troy is as follows. after 10 long years of battle, in which many heroes. died, including hector and Achilles, the Greeks used trickery to beat the Trojans. at the advice of Odysseus, the wisest of the Greeks, the army was to build a huge hollow horse, as a peace offering, and leave it for the Trojans. they would also leave behind a soldier to lie to the Trojans and tell them that the Greeks had given up. then the Greeks sailed away, but only a little way of. now inside the horse the best of the Greek soldiers hid, and when taken into the city with the horse they waited until night time, then, with the rest of the army that had sailed back to Troy, they attached the city and set it on fire, killing all of the Trojans they met. thus ended the city of troy.

How did Vergil's Aeneid re waken roman pride?

The Aeneid is an epic about Aeneas, a hero of the Trojan war who sailed the Mediterranean Sea, landed in Italy and went to the city of Lavium in Latium (the land of the Latins) just south of Rome (Rome was a Latin city). Latinus, the king of the Latins welcomed him and is companions. Latinus and Aeneas' men defeated the Rutuli in a war. This is how the Aeneids ends. The story of the Aeneid is linked with a Roman legend according to which, through Aeneas, the Romans were descendants of the Trojans. According to the legend of the foundation of Rome, Ascanius, the son of Aeneas, founded the city of Alba Longa and its Royal house. In the very early days of the Latins Alba Longa (not Rome) was the chief city of the Latins. The legend said that the founder of Rome, Romulus, and his twin brother, Remus were born into the Royal family of Alba Longa and, therefore, descendants of Aeneas and the Trojans. The Romans claimed that they were descendants of the heroic Trojans and were proud of this.

What is a brief story on the Trojan horse?

Greeks attacked Troy, but couldn't get past the defenders. So, they sailed off one night, leaving only a large wooden horse. The Trojans rejoiced and took the horse inside the walls. Big mistake. That night, Greek soldiers climbed out of the horse and conquered the city.

How did the city of troy fall?

Troy was finally captured by the Greeks. Odysseus, a famous Greek warrior, built a giant horse which could fit 30 fully armed men inside. The Greeks made the horse beautiful and sent a 'pretend traitor' to the Trojans saying that the Greeks had sailed off and given up. there were mass celebrations and everyone got very drunk. The Trojans feel asleep then the Greek creeped out of the trapdoor of the horse and started killing every Trojan in sight. They were merciful and in some cases let some families go. (This is a very summarised answer hope it's okay)
