Another discriminatory argument for political gain." Barkley's shift against conservatism may also have something to do with his interest in poverty. "My No. 1 priority is to help poor people," Barkley has said. "In this country, 90% of the money is controlled by 10% of the people, and that's not right." Seems pretty liberal to me. He has claimed in the past to be conservative (even thought about running for political office as a republican), but comments like the ones above seem to contradict that claim.
