Why Nelson Mandela was a terrorist?

Some of his actions as part of the "Umkhonto we Sizwe" (MK) anti-government movement were at least complicity with terrorism, as they resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, many of them black. The African National Congress and the apartheid government of South Africa were equally guilty of inhuman violence. The MK leaders, including Mandela, were convicted in the Rivonia trials of 1963 and 1964 and Mandela was sentenced to life imprisonment. He spent 27 years in prison before being released in 1990.

When you are convicted of terrorism you are a terrorist. Just because you claim to be fighting a war you feel is fair does not give you the right to kill inocent civilians as Mandela did. He is a terrorist just like Osama, Martin McGuiness and Mugabe and Pollpot. By rights he should have been hanged. The world needed to say something good for south Africa so it adpopted him as a sort of poster child of the fight against apartheid. Bishop Tutu is a peace loving man who actually did far more for south Africa than old terrorist Mandela.
