No. Almost nothing with marshmallows is kosher, due to the Gelatin. Packages of kosher marshmallows are an exception to the rule, of course, so it's entirely reasonable to add your own (kosher) marshmallows to kosher Hot Chocolate.

I'm wondering if the marshmellows are left out, would swiss miss drinking chocolate then be considered kosher since the discussion around this seems to be that the marshmellows are not kosher?

i am not sure about that, but if you are looking for halal marshmallows, i think www.halalselectsnacks.com is the best place to buy halal marshamllows, i have been buying from them for a long time, and they have excellent service.

They use 100% Fish Gelatin in their products which is 100% Halal alternative to pork Gelatin used in most of the products.

They can be, if they're made with kosher gelatin. There are two types of kosher gelatin: fish gelatin, and gelatin made from cows that were slaughtered according to the rules of kashrut. Both are made only for the kosher market, so any marshmallow that isn't specifically certified kosher by a reliable agency must be assumed to be treif.

They need to have kosher-certification. Marshmallows that are kosher certified are most often made from either seaweed or fish gelatin. Usually, kosher marshmallows are not sold in regular grocery stores, none of the big name brands are kosher.

Most Nestle hot chocolate mixes are kosher, however, you would have to check the package for a valid hechsher. This is because some of the flavours, such as the ones with marshmallows are usually not kosher.

If it has a kosher symbol on the package, it's been inspected and certified kosher. Chocolate is not forbidden, and neither is milk as long as there's no meat or meat by-products.
