This one's going to take some explaining. In days past, when there were a lot of whales in the ocean, brave men set to sea in ships to hunt the Sperm Whale. In the head of this whale is a chamber called the case; the case is filled with a waxy substance called spermaceti. It is a wonderful product for making cosmetics, including lipsticks, as it has no odor and feels very nice on your skin.
Today, the same product (also called cetyl palmitate) is made from Jojoba oil, which comes from a plant. It's better for the environment and also for the people harvesting it: no one has ever been drowned by a mad jojoba plant with a harpoon in its side. Whales are a different story.
