I was told by my acupuncturist to use salt water on my ingrown hairs on my lower legs. She said that putting any sort of oil (for example: tea tree oil / lavender oil) would only clog the pore. She said after washing to dilute some salt in warm water and put this on the problem area for a few minutes every day until it clears up. I'm trying it now!

Will using a men's electronic razer really help my boyfriend with the many ingrown hairs he seems to get?

There is no reason for the electric razor to cause ingrown hairs as long as you shave with the direction of the hair growth and use a good after shave. If you shave against the hair growth your chances of getting an ingrown hair are higher.

How to Avoid Ingrown Hairs When Waxing?

Waxing is a great way to remove unwanted hair on your body. Of all types of home hair removal, waxing lasts the longest before growing back. However, it does have its down side, with ingrown hairs and a rash being the most prominent. But there are ways to avoid getting ingrown hairs after waxing, by following these steps. -Step 1: Don’t wait to wax You don’t want to be waxing when your hair is very long. This makes it worse and will require more waxing in the same spot, which can result in ingrown hairs. So wax when you hair is short. -Step 2: Follow instructions Follow the instructions on the wax word for word. The people who wrote it know what they are talking about, so stick to the instructions. -Step 3: Exfoliate Exfoliation before you start will help reduce ingrown hair, and exfoliating after will do the same. Don’t skip this step. It’s important to make sure the area is clean and exfoliated before waxing. -Step 4: Air the area Avoid wearing very tight fitting clothes, as these will cause friction and irritate your waxed area. Let it breathe by wearing loose-fitting clothes for a few weeks. -Step 5: Moisturize Moisturize regularly. Well-moisturized hair is less likely to turn out as ingrown hairs. So, use a good moisturizer at least twice daily or more if need be. -Step 6: Stop them when you see them If you see an ingrown hair, use a pair of tweezers to lift the ingrown hair so it can grow properly. Do not pluck it though, this will make it worse. -Step 7: Don’t over wax Don’t wax too often, only once every six weeks. Too much waxing will cause serious ingrown hair. As long as you wax sensibly and follow instructions, you should be able to minimize ingrown hairs and the pain associated with them.

How do you get bumps off your legs?

Try a skin lightening cream ____ They are generally ingrown hairs or marks from previous ingrown hairs. Try what I did: 1. Exfolliate my legs every day with a face scrub with a loofah or stiff brush in small circles (I use St Ives Apricot scrub) 2. Moisturize with an alpha hydroxy lotion (I use Alpha Hydrox AHA Enhanced Lotion) 3. About a week later spend a whole weekend inspecting each bump and removing ingrown hairs with sterilized needle and a good pair of tweezers Now I put warm compresses on my legs before I wax to help prevent the hair bumps from coming back. A lot of work but I love the smooth legs...
